ANOTHER CONCERT SERIES FOR SOUTH DUBLIN

1st September 2006

Following on the success of last year's concert series in Rathfarnham Castle which Finghin organised as part of his residency at South Dublin County Council, a fresh series of concerts has been devised in the beautiful peaceful setting of Whitechurch Church of Ireland. These concerts feature a variety of musicians from within South Dublin County and beyond. Entitled "Mozart and More at Whitechurch", the series does have an emphasis on the year's birthday genius, but there is lots more besides.

One of the more interesting concerts will be a recital by organist David Adams on the Conacher organ which was restored a few years ago by David¹s brother Stephen. David will be joined by the young soprano Anna Devin for a performance of Mozart's ever popular Exsultate Jubilate. Another concert features two young talents from South Dublin County - violinist Roisin Walters and clarinettist Macdara O Seireadain, accompanied by Rathfarnham pianist Dearbhla Brosnan. The series will be rounded off on November 4th by a concert featuring more South Dublin talent - the Young European String chamber orchestra, directed by Ronald Masin.

The series is supported by South Dublin County Council and the Arts Council. We are also very grateful to Whitechurch Parish and Canon Horace McKinley for the use of the church. Concerts take place on Saturday afternoons at 3.00pm and admission is free. Seats can be reserved by calling the Council on (01) 414 9000 ext. 3350 or by emailing cryan@sdublincoco.ie.
