FINGHIN TO PLAY IN TWO CHARITY CONCERTS THIS MONTH

5th April 2009

This month of April will see Finghin take part in two concerts in aid of good causes. The first is on Sunday April 19th in Holy Cross Church, Dundrum in Dublin 14. The concert, which takes place at 3.30pm, is seeking to raise funds for "Sowing Seeds", an outreach programme of Holy Cross Parish which helps the poorest families of Haiti and Columbia. Last year a similar concert raised €8,000 and it is hoped to do even better this year! Other performers include violinist Geraldine O'Grady, harpist Geraldine O'Doherty, soprano Celine Byrne and pianist Dearbhla Brosnan. The concert will be presented by well-known actor Des Keogh.

The following Sunday, April 26th, Finghin will take part in a concert in the Church of The Assumption in The Rower, Co. Kilkenny. This concert, which also takes place at 3.30pm, is in aid of Marymount National School in the village of The Rower, which is in need of extension and refurbishment.  Other performers include mezzo-soprano Elspeth Hayes, In Caelo chamber choir and young musicians from the local area.

Tickets for both events will be available at the door.
