FINGHIN TO PERFORM TROUT QUINTET AT RUDDOCK CONCERT
10th January 2009
Owing to the withdrawal by Majella Stockhausen due to injury, Finghin will now perform Schubert's Trout Quintet at the National Concert Hall on Tuesday January 13th in addition to Beethoven's Piano Sonata Op. 111. This special concert is a tribute to John and Doreen Ruddock of the Association of Music Lovers (formerly Limerick Music Association) whose contribution to Irish musical life over the past four decades has been immense. The concert marks the first anniversary of Doreen's passing and features a variety of musicians promoted by the LMA / AML over the years. Finghin is honoured to the only Irish person to participate in this concert.
The Trout Quintet will be performed with members of the Vogler Quartet from Berlin along with Peter Riegelbauer, double-bassist of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and member of the Scharoun Ensemble. Both the Vogler Quartet and the Scharoun Ensemble have been regular visitors to Ireland under the auspices of the LMA. Other participants in this concert, presented by the National Concert Hall in association with the Arts Council, include clarinettist Michael Collins, baritone Wolfgang Holzmair and pianist Russell Ryan.
